In the early 70’s my studio was in the former Odd Fellows Hall with the original Invisible Theater which I had helped found, City Dance Theater, my then wife’s modern dance company, and Ballet Tucson, led by a young French choreographer who had worked at the Paris Opera. For the next decade the building teemed with dancers and actors. It was an exciting time to be a photographer, shooting for my building mates plus ATC, the Opera and numerous other companies.
When I started shooting The Rogue they were performing challenging, literate plays from various different venues. I’ve loved working with these persistently creative people. In the permanent facility building they’re still giving life to thought-provoking plays and with a depth in their acting ensemble and technical skills that astound. It’s been a joy to have had the opportunity to capture the vibrant energy of their extraordinary productions over these years.
